My Title & Aim

Why did I choose this title?
The topic I have chosen to study for my Extended project is the idea of beauty in the media. This topic has been extremely popular in the news in recent years, specifically with the way that women are represented and the impact this has on teens today. This area particularly interests me as I believe the way women are shown in the media today (eg. in magazines and on televsion) has directly affected me and my peers.

My Aim:
My aim for this topic is to challenge the ideas of what people deem to be 'beautiful' nowadays, and to create a magazine (front cover, contents page, double page spread) that will appear 'alternative' to the usual magazines that you see on the shelves currently.

How will I acheive this?
Through extensive research, I will discover how the media has shaped peoples ideas and thoughts on beauty and the way it's portrayed in the media. I will draw information from many different sources such as articles (on the internet etc), interviews with my peers and analysing television programmes that are also delving into this subject.
